All New PetroGuard® Super Absorbent

Posted by ENPAC LLC on Feb 11th 2025

PetroGuard® is a super absorbent polymer that works instantly and is designed to solidify liquids into non-leaching solids. This absorbent has the ability to absorb hydrocarbons and petroleum products and is known for its 4:1 absorption capacity. It has the ability to product a low-volumetric barrier that immobilizes oil on land or water.

Key features:

  • Absorbs hydrocarbons faster than competing polymers
  • Higher absorption ratio by weight than others
  • Encapsulates hydrocarbons – will not release or “leach”
  • Permanently buoyant
  • Cost effective
  • Labor saving
  • Will not dissolve in water
  • Non-toxic
  • Easily collected and disposed of by incineration or landfill
  • Readily capable of being skimmed from the surface of water
  • Flammable vapors are dramatically reduced or eliminated

Compatible with:

  • Aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Non-polar solvents
  • Crude oil
  • Aliphatic hydrocarbons
  • Chlorinated hydrocarbons
  • Many other petroleum and silicone related compounds

Common Oil Spill Applications:

  • Marinas
  • Oil rigs
  • Emergency response vehicles
  • Fueling docks
  • Shops
  • Refineries
  • Oil spill response
  • Remediation of contaminated land areas

Common Chemical Spill Applications:

  • Various water-reactive chemical response situations requiring complete encapsulation and vapor suppression

Different sizes and uses:

  • 1-Gallon Jug: Absorbing oils from roadways and sealing ditches to prevent further penetration of hydrocarbons into soil. It is also useful for creating a dam around drains and sewers in case of a spill or during maintenance
  • Packets: small, incidental leaks or spills, such as removing oil sheens from sumps or drip pan
  • Mini Booms: wide range of organic liquids for applications such as drip pans, leaking equipment, spill pallet sumps, and smaller spills in water
  • Pillows: Ideal for land use over a large area – shop and work areas, storage facilities, first responder trucks, military installations, reactive or other hazardous chemicals are used in plant production or storage areas. They are also great for intermediate spills such as oil-water separators, manholes, and roadway spill cleanups
  • Blankets: Anywhere conveniently booms are used – marinas, harbors, insubstantial clarifier and holding ponds, streams, lakes, inland water areas and bays, in conjunction with skimmers and vacuum trucks.
